Communities across Scotland have a long history of working together to get things done. One opportunity that can make a huge impact on the future of your community is the ownership of local land or buildings.
Asset ownership can deliver a wide range of benefits including providing employment and generating income that can be re-invested into the local economy. Communities are opting to buy land to develop affordable housing, run their local shop or provide facilities for visitors. Across Scotland, people are coming together to help solve some of the long term issues facing their local area.
The Community Assets Team at Highlands and Islands Enterprise can help your community reach its goals by providing support, guidance and funding.
If you are part of a community-led organisation interested in owning an asset which could improve the social and economic development of your local area, then we can help. See our develop your idea page for more information.
In partnership with BIG Lottery Scotland, Highlands and Islands Enterprise deliver the Scottish Land Fund on behalf of the Scottish Government, a funding programme that awards grants of up to £1million to communities across the whole of Scotland who are looking to acquire land and building assets.
